Shifter assembly question

Post by __TT__ »

So I'm looking to replace my worn old shifter mechanism to something newer. I'm not wanting to do a 5pd shifter if I end up just swapping to a 6spd at some point in the next couple years. So I think ( I know bad thing to do) that I can swap the 6spd shifter and just not hook up the reverse cable and use it as a 5spd shifter. Does anyone see any issue with this?

njdriver04 was wanting to do this and believe he discovered the reasons why it wouldn't work.
