I swapped a EJ205 motor out of a 2002 wrx into my 98 legacy gt wagon. It's overheating when I run at higher rpm on boost. I'm currently running the old legacy radiator which has god know how many miles on it and has some gunk in it. I'm guessing that it's partially clogged so at high pressure/heat, it's backing up and the engine is overheating.
I'd like to replace it with a high quality radiator that will handle the cooling duties of a modded ej205. I looked on ebay and found 2 row aluminum radiators for 1st generation and 4th generation legacies, but no 3rd gen. Does anyone know where I can get a good radiator for my car from?

Have you checked over on sl-i.net? They're more second-gen related.

Cool beans. Good luck.

How do you have your cooling system plumbed with the new motor? There are some differences with the non-turbo radiator that requires a little tweaking to get it to work properly with the turbo motors. You should be using the turbo motor coolant tank to add coolant. There should be a line from that tank that ties into the non-turbo radiator just below the radiator cap. You also need to remove the lower gasket on the radiator cap for the radiator. This will allow air and coolant to travel into the turbo coolant tank.
If you don't have things setup this way, you could have a trapped air pocket. Also, using redline water wetter helps heat transfer.
I have been running a non-turbo radiator with my turbo motor in the configuration I mentioned above without any problems. The car runs cool, and I'm in Houston, so it does get HOT.
