SRT4 Coil And Adapter

Post by 05SRT »

I have seen some talk about some wanting to run an SRT coil. This should be everything you need.

http://www.moparsupercenter.com/engine/ ... e=products
Stock Coil (our highest rated coil)

http://www.race-mart.com/MSD-MSD-8883.html
MSD-8883 adapter plug. That may have to get cut and spliced.

There you have it. Parts tracked down if you want to try it. If not ill give it a go when i get home since i have a spare coil and harness laying around.

Fixed i think. And i would avoid the MSD. Its been known to fail frequently. That said i ran one on my srt for 30k miles and had not one issue.

The link now takes me to a webstore but not a specific product. I have never planned to replace the stock coil. Is there really a noticeable or measurable gain to be made?

I have not even the slightest clue. It should take you to a page where there are 3 coils listed. All three are for the SRT. All three work the same.

I have no idea to be honest. I was browsing around and saw some people talk of using the SRT MSD coil. But you need the specific plug to make it work. I just thought i would throw it all in one thread. (I have a heavily modded SRT as to why i knew the info)

And as far as on the Legacy...no idea. I haven't even seen mine in person. Bought it from a friend, through a friend since im deployed.

I've never had any issues with the stock coil. The diamond coils are good coils and are more then adequate for almost everyone out there. I was at about 300 chp and over that for torque at around 19 psi and never had any issues.

I had just seen the price point argued. If you get the wiring from a junk neon and grab a new coil your in it for under 50 bucks. Can't complain there.

i just recently purchased my legacy with the msd coil swap and it is an amazing car, but i get these random misfires every now and then, ? the car has been tuned, has a fat fmic and tdo5h. its no timing issue...i believe it is from the home crafted 8mm plug wires dude assembled. is there a replacement option for these wires with little to no modification.?

Is it using the stock coil pack? If so, I'd suggest a set of Magnecor or NGK plug wires.
