Right side Headlight has gone dim just replace Alternator

Post by CCorsair »

I came home tonight noted the right dead light was dim very dim but high beam works And we Just got the Alternator replace a week ago as my old one was bad and was causing some electrical issue in starting and the car was stalling but all is working now .. I pulled the light and tried spare one i have it was dim to like it was shorting or grounding out. I don't have any way to check the voltage right at this time.. will check the fuse again in day light but all looked good.. Calling the shop to see what they think. this again is the right side passenger light all other light seem to be working ,blinker brakes and tail lights .
No loss of power but did note some flutter in the light that is dim when testing it.. Need this working have few funds left after getting the alternator replace.. Oh and after it was replace I noting more power when i step on the gas like the engine has bit more power and it is shifting better since the alternator was replace. Not sure if that is related to the Headlight going dim now.. Also the right side in the some side the car was damaged when I was ran off the road in Aug panel was bent in but I fixed that had to put in a strut as the one that hit the curb was bent all drive well for about 3 weeks then wagon acted like it was not getting fuel and would start to stall.. had to wait for fund but we fond codes that were for Master Airflow and O2 we changed the Air flow and it still coded and didn't work took it to the shop found the voltage was very low from alternator and we replaced it all error coded stop no more stalling.. car has been running fine but now the headlight and the dim bulb .. Not liking that electrical thing are going on both light were working before early in the evening as i had checked them both before heading out as we have had fog in the area for the last few days.. have thought maybe something got wet that should not have as well? the fog is very damp and misty.. so will check again as it warms up some today.. Any thoughts would be of great help Thanks

BTW Anyone in the Sacramento are that could help let me know..

Update checked every thing I could check then replaced the headlight and the light came up and is working but still not sure what happen and why it was dim not burnt out.. Also noted there was at some point a lose of power as the radio was re-set and i just set the time and station now all is reset.. the only thing I noted is it not do it starter kick over till i turn off the heater fan i left on but it started fine before and after it was doing this starting problem before the alt change not sure who it does it but it seem to be voltage issue as it starts when all it turn off and been a small issue for some time but never big one but the power re-set is new and also did not happen when the car was staling it would just die and the power would just go as the power steering would cut out and the car would turn over and re-start quickly but the radio and clock did not re-set at all..

Will keep an eye on the plugs as i do not if there is ground out it can fry the connector if there is one... I do not need the car going down again..

It sounds like there is a draw somewhere in the wiring or possibly some bad wiring or a short.

Do you have a multi meter to test voltage and check resistances of the wiring? That's really what I would suggest doing if you continue to have problems.
