4eat transfer valve advise?
I called 2 dealers to order my duty c solenoid and they are clueless.
He gave me a part number similar to this one
31942AA090 VALVE AY TRANSFER CLUTCH 112.94 (DUTY C SOLENOID)
for a 1992 legacy L a/t n/a.
discrepancies in terminology.
And they werent sure if they come seperate from the valve or if I have to buy it as an assy????

Re: oh my gosh help!
From what I can tell, around the 92 MY they changed the sensor from being a plug in type sensor to being part of the harness. Or at least that's what I believe.
Give me your VIN # and I'll let you know what you need.

Re: oh my gosh help!
Hi,
I R&R'd the the hub on the rear of my '91 4EAT and here is a parts list:
> >31942AA090 Valve Ay. transfer clutch (This is the one for a majority of vehicles, some early models took a different part #.) The early part number may be: 31942AA061 (see below)
> > 31954AA071 (QTY=2) Gasket for solenoid and plate.
> > 31337AA120 Extension housing gasket
> > 11126AA000 Drain plug gasket for tranny
This LINK on opposedforces.com shows the rear housing and #13 is the Duty C. The early p/n shown is: 31942AA061
And if I understand the question that dealer has......Subaru did put the Duty C in the valve body for awhile, then moved it back to the rear transfer case housing like on my '91....I just discovered this doing research on my '04 FXT.

That VIN is for a 92 -- the "N" in the tenth digit means 1992 model year.

Re: 4eat transfer valve id problem.
Pulled your VIN up in the electronic parts book, and based upon the build date of July of 91, you need this part # for the duty c solenoid, 31942AA070.
I'm going to email you a pic from the parts book that shows the decoding of your VIN.

Re: 4eat transfer valve id problem. resolved but!
Ok so part number figured out, now I am also going to order clutch plates but I am
very nervous about doing this.
I have done timing belts on sohc, and other various stuff but never an automatic.
I have done a clutch before but some reason I am scared to do this ....and I saw a good write up, i will link it here for my easy ref.
If anyone has any input please post up.
Thinking about trying to find same or similar trany at the junkyard
to take apart for learning experience or am I being paranoid?
I know about not pinching the wire.
