The GC8 JDM engine we just put in my son's car turned out to be junk. After 1 week of run time and of course countless hours wiring and fitting engine to start with, the number 4 cylinder went dead. There was always a sort of an irregular miss or hesitation. We replaced coils and sensors and a multitude of other things along the way.
When the pistons were pulled here is what we found in number 4. I think the engine sat for an extended period and the ring froze the cylinder. Can't seem to come up with any other answer.
I have always used Wiseco pistons in the past. Do they work good in Subies too?
Oh yeah they make wiseco pistons for subarus. Did the crank turn over by hand before you started it?

Yes it did. Seemed smooth before the install. I think the damage was done prior to me getting the engine. The warranty is void because I did not have the engine installed by a certified tech.
New Wiseco pistons, Manley rods, bearings and a new stage 3 clutch on the way. Will try to remember to take some pics along the way. Need to find a shop to get the cylinders bored. I have a speed shop close by that says 300 or so to bore. Anyone know of some where else in the Minnesota Twin Cities area?
