I need a hood scoop for my Legacy Turbo Sedan!

Post by SubaLuvnTris »

Hello everybody,

I was wondering if you guys had a stock hood scoop for my 1992 Subaru Legacy Turbo Sport Sedan. Mine is chipped and has lost a great deal of paint, but the rest of the car is fine. If anyone has one lying around they would like to get rid of (color doesn't matter, I'll fix that), or know anyone who could make me one, please reply with an answer. Thanks a bunch you guys. All of your postings sure have helped me quite a bit.

have you tried local junkyards? if you can find a u-pull-it you could probably get one for really cheap.

A turbo in a junkyard? I'm lucky if I find N/A's around here. I'm on the wrong side of the country...

yes it will fit. Their just a tiny bit different looking. You are very lucky to have a turbo in a yard - I have yet to see one in my searches.

Mark,

You absolutely sure they'll fit? I know they are different....and at one time we had mine and a jim's 94 side by side....they were different, but I don't remember if the shapes were different different enough so they weren't interchangeable.

well a few minutes ago I placed a 92-94 hoodscoop spare I have next to the one on my 91 turbo. I have always thought dimensionally they were the same and that they just were a little different (the way the scoop is sculpted). Well now I know, 91 hoodscoops ARE different from 92-94 ones  . They will not interchange into hoods. A 91 turbo hood needs a 91 hoodscoop and a 92-94 hood needs a 92-94 scoop. the 92-94 scoop is a little taller and the base is wider. Thanks for getting me to check that out Josh. 8)

I've got one from a 92, black, has a few scratches but otherwise in good condition.

Problem is it's under 12" of snow right now and I won't be digging it out until spring time.
