hey everyone ,
I have a ej22 block out of a 97 legacy, i am taking the inerds out of an ej22t and trying to make this block withstand atleast a little more psi then a stock n/a block. Im not changing the block either, I'm working with all that i have.
I would really love some feed back and some advice. I am new comer to the whole aspect of building engines but i am learning with every piece of information i find.
thanks everyone

Subaru changed some stuff with the later model engines. The big thing is the thrust bearing location on the crank. The heads on the newer ej22 have single port exhaust vs the ej22t's dual port.
Can you provide some more details as to what exactly you're looking to swap from where to where and what you plan to reuse from the existing engine setup?

im running 10psi on a vf39 in my winter beater making over 200whp and its on a stock n/a block. unless you want crazy hp the n/a internals are fine with proper engine management

ej22 with ej22t inerds.
The Phase II engine with the relocated thrust bearing came out in 99, so his 97 engine is still a Phase I. Legacy777 is right about the heads... although the newer heads raise the CR a bit, they're single-port, so they don't flow very well.
However, all Phase I engines used forged internals, whether they were turbo or not. So, honestly, swapping in EJ22T internals isn't even really an upgrade, except for the pistons.

Re: ej22 with ej22t inerds.
The heads on my engine have dual exhaust ports?
but i am going to swap the pistons and rods still because i didnt get a crank. Thanks for the tip.
Im dropping a ej22 n/a in my 95 impreza l coupe.
it came stock with the 1.8L
I'm going to run it with a ej22t ecu.
I want to use mostly everything, the heads i think will be fine until i have money to get better flowing ones.
but i am planning on putting a ej22t intake mani also. I have a stock mani from a 04 wrx tho, and injectors. What do you guys thing i should use?
and for the turbo i am going to use an ej22t turbo because if i remember correctlythey only put out like 6 or 7 psi,,, witch i was told around that is good and safe for a n/a engine.
I'm just wondering what and if there is anything else besides engine management i can do to get maz horses out of this engine withought anything crazy expensive.
