Re: mfd 4/93 ???
If you're talking about North American models, your car is a 93 model. 93 models were made from 05/1992 through 05/1993. Also, your VIN has the model year encoded in it. The tenth character in it should be a P.
1995 was the first year of the second generation models.
For completeness:
1990 model year manufacturing dates: 01/1989 through 04/1990, 10th digit of VIN is L
1991 model year manufacturing dates: 05/1990 through 04/1991, 10th digit of VIN is M
1992 model year manufacturing dates: 05/1991 through 04/1992, 10th digit of VIN is N
1993 model year manufacturing dates: 04/1992 through 05/1993, 10th digit of VIN is P
1994 model year manufacturing dates: 06/1993 through 02/1994, 10th digit of VIN is R

My 10th character is R,11th character is H.Top of both ID plates say FugiHeavyInd,yet mfd 4/93.Japanese then? Now I broke off hose fitting for engine coolant filler tank(turbo).F***ing B.S. plastic.Suppose I need a whole different or new coolant filler tank?Bumped the hose while checking tranny fluid.Arrrgh
Re: mfd 4/93 ???

It sounds like you're off one digit. The R would indicate a 1994 MY, and H would indicate full time AWD with AT.

The 10th-digit-of-the-VIN thing is not specific to Subaru.
This is weird... Maybe the manufacturing dates are kind of fluid.
Would you be willing to post up your VIN? You can leave the last six digits out if you don't want the serial number in it.
In any case, if this came up because you're looking for parts, almost all parts between 93 and 94 models are the same. The only exceptions I can think of are the air conditioning system (94 models have a Zexel system with R-134a refrigerant, and a blue sticker on the radiator support that says so), the wheels (94 turbos have different wheels from 91-93 turbos), and the master window switch (94 models don't have auto-up; just auto-down).

Re: mfd 4/93 ???
Yup, that's definitely a 94. Weird.
Those coolant tanks are notorious for failing. The plastic material just isn't up to the stresses. Some board members have repaired theirs temporarily with various cobbled-together bulkhead fittings, but those don't usually last long.
With some work, you can replace the tank with a metal one from a newer WRX or STi. You can also get rid of the tank entirely if you don't mind losing the extra cooling it provides the turbo after you park; if you do this you need to find another place to fit a radiator cap (I used something like this).
