Gear cluster swap

Post by Naked Buell »

So I have a question. I have a 4-11 jdm 5 speed. If I have a 3:9 rearend and want to keep that, can I just change the front diff to a 3:9???
I don't have to change anything else do I?

I am pretty sure you need to change the ring & pinion. The pinion shaft slides inside the driven shaft to the center diff. So I don't want to say it can't be done, but it's more involved, and if you're swapping stuff around, you'd likely have to verify/set backlash and shims.
