93 leg. seat belts

Post by S Webster »

Hi folks, I'm workin' on my newly aquired 93 Legacy Turbo sedan, (sadly I have the whole thing torn apart now, replacing the htr. core). I was wonderin' if anyone has come up with a method for replacing these door climbin' seat belts. I've always hated em, & at his point have disabled the motors, & I'm hooking up the shoulder belt by hand,(when I do). There must be a better way. Much thanks, S.

There is. Canadian seat belts and trim and headliner. It'll cost you a fortune but I can say they are SOOO much better.

I've heard second gen. leg front belts fit. Haven't seen pictures but I've heard they do fit.

I think mike-tracy just fitted some 2nd gens in his car but he did mention there is a small bit of modification to make them fit. The problem is the trim pieces you still need so you might as well get the belts with the canadian trim and headliner. It's a package deal, all or nothing really IMO.

I put a set of gen 2 Lego belts in my 91. I just had to round the corners of the retractor housings so they would fit in the hole at the bottom of the B pillar. As for my upper B trim, I just cut it off so that it just covers the anchor bolt. I cut the old belt tracks and used them to remount the front upper trim. It is a touch Ghetto Fabulous, but I got the belts for under $20 at the junkyard, so I'm not complaining. If you go his route, make sure you get the right buckle. There are 2 lengths in the 2nd gen. Shorter one fits the existing mate on our seats.

Check out my thread, I've got a lot of pictures and info on the little details to do the swap.

Well Josh, that's quite a write up, well done. As soon as I get the parts gathered up, I'll spend more time with it. Again, Thanks. S.
