91 legacy turbo knock senser code

Post by Subiman91ss »

I just recenly put in a different 2.2t and then i noticed that the connector for the knock sensor wire broke on the car side of the connector.. i stripped both wires and put in connectors.... still getting knock codes.. code 22...
car runs great until it throws code..

also noticed that the wire on the car side had a shielding wire around the core wires casing...

any thoughts or suggestions?

When repairing the harness you do need to make sure you maintain the shielding that the stock setup had, but that's not relevant to the trouble code.

I'd guess that the new engine probably just had a bad knock sensor on it.

If the new sensor doesn't fix it, check the resistance of the wire from the knock sensor connector in the engine bay to the ECU. I found that my wire was bad some where along there, and ended up just running a new wire.

You can try using the 93 turbo ECU, however I doubt that will make any difference.

Here's the ECU I-O

You need to use an ohm meter to check the resistance of the wire from the ECU to the connector. It should have 0 ohms. If the wire is bad, you'll need to run a new wire to the ECU. Others have used microphone wire since it is shielded and relatively inexpensive.
