93 Legacy htr. box.
Hi. yall. Say, has anyone run into a problem with a replacement htr. core being to thick (cross section) to fit in the pocket in the htr. box? The core would be ok but the tanks are to wide, & a 1/4" or more thicker than the one that came out. A friend who has a Suby shop in Santa Fe, said there was a Subaru shop notice, years back, that required replacement of that part of the box, with a new peice from the dealer. Say it isn't so. Advice? Thanks folks, S.
Re: 93 Legacy htr. box.
Yes, I just had that problem. Every single parts store heater core was too big in exactly the way you describe. I ended up ordering an OEM core from 1stsubaruparts.com. The part is about $225 or so on there as opposed to over $300 at every local dealer.
You could try a junkyard as well for a cheaper option. I've never heard of a shop notice about that issue.

Was the part from 1stsubaruparts.com also too wide or did it fit fine?
