Engine unresponsive above 3500 rpm in all gears.

Post by speezly »

After a complete rebuild on my ej22 n/a, i am having acceleration problems. Once the engine reaches 3500 rpm in any given gear it feels as if all my power is zapped from the engine. it sounds like it starts to sputter a bit. When i upshift it feels normal until it reaches 3500. I cant even get the engine close to redline. Anyone ever ran into this problem after a rebuild? What did i do poorly?

It sounds like you may have a clogged cat or some other restriction.

Have you verified the timing belt alignment again?
