Yes they really hi quality, we use carillo rods in our racing engines normally but these are just as nice, we were trying to decide if Cosworth actually made them or had Carillo do them, they have Cosworth rod bolt also so we figure Cosworth made them, same quality as a Carillo though!jefferson wrote:Those things look so nice it is almost a shame to put them inside a motor.

Today, I finished the Indy lights car and I was delivered an 87 March Indycar to work on. We built the engine for it back in 96.

Re: 91 SS to RSRA Spec bare shell complete restoration/build
Well everyone, the trip back in the Forester from Colorado to Las Vegas was awesome, lots of open road and a lot of the trip had speed limits of 80 mph so I was bookin along, and the car is nice to drive, it is a more refined car than my 05 STI, much less cabin noise and less road feedback to the wheel, feels actually much more stable in a way, but really just a nice road trip car. Tomorrow I have one more trip.... back to Northern California which is about a seven hours also.
Above are pictures of the car, it has to be repaired and painted on right rear corner, but I was given a cheque and had to sign a form to say I won't post anything negative regarding the company so I won't say anymore about that however the engine bay and interior is very nice and we tinted the windows today and I added mudflaps and front spoiler and decals etc so above are photos of the Forester taken today

WOW . Very Nice, I have never ever seen a Fozzy STI
Usually I love the look of large Fog lights up front, but that is way to clean looking to mess with. Gorgeous !!!

Re: 91 SS to RSRA Spec bare shell complete restoration/build
Well today I sorted through a load of parts that I took from two N/A 2.2 Legacy sedans from a local Auto dismantler called picknpull. One of the cars was obviously a very nice car before it was crashed but the trunk and rear garnish were in excellent condition which I want for the spoiler delete, I will have one painted with original spoiler and this one without. I also picked up a good carpet, rear parcel tray with speaker covers and cutout for rear brake light. The big thrill was finding wind up windows with arm rests
etc in excellent condition
I also picked up spare dash pad with no sunburn which I will have to respray to correct color and a bunch of the trim clips and fasteners etc which I labeled and sealed in bags.

That carpet was in pretty good shape!
I have yet to see a manual window legacy in person....so that's pretty rare.

Re: 91 SS to RSRA Spec bare shell complete restoration/build
I actually saw one at the yard last week. Totally manual windows and no ac. Didn't even have the center piece of the tail lights (sedan). I might go back and get the hvac components and heater buttons box because it has no ac button and it actually has a recirc button.

I would really like to get one of those heater controls without AC, could you get the Vin so that I can check into getting those parts, also what condition were the door panels? ( cards ) I am now searching for a set so if you go back could you check them out for me, it would really help if I could find some good used oneskimokalihi wrote:I actually saw one at the yard last week. Today I worked on cleaning up and starting to rebuild parts off the car that will not be used on this project but I will sell for someone else to use on their Legacy. I also have my original front bumper repaired and in primer ready for paint

Re: 91 SS to RSRA Spec bare shell complete restoration/build
almost everything from this car is for sale or will be when I am ready. The hood, the front Bumper cover the front axles the short throw shifter which is the best I have ever used, it worked extremely well, struts and springs, the knuckles (hubs) rebuilt with new bearings and seals with repainted backing plates and possibly with the slotted rotors seen on this thread.I could do a set up with rebuilt calipers etc if someone was interested. A lot of the parts that are available are in excellent condition, a few things are new. I do want fairly good money for the parts, a lot of time and money and effort has gone into them and they came of a car that was in great shape when I finished with it.monkeyposeur wrote:So is the transmission for sale? I could basically sell you all the parts needed to rebuild your entire car ready to bolt on, It will take a few more weeks to get everything painted and ready to go!

Re: 91 SS to RSRA Spec bare shell complete restoration/build
Great! I would definitely be interested in the transmission/diff. I was thinking about putting a WRX or STi trans in my SS. But if your 5MT seems solid let me know.

Re: 91 SS to RSRA Spec bare shell complete restoration/build
I made adaptors and mounted the Legacy to the rotisserie so now it's ready for welding in the jack stand mounts
( WRC type stands) and then some seam welding and extra bracing, and then off to paint.... Then some assembly can begin

Re: 91 SS to RSRA Spec bare shell complete restoration/build
I have been very busy as usual and now with the arrival of our second child it has been hard to get time to update this thread. I have made some good progress with the Legacy, it has had most of the seam welding done and I have one thing that I am really glad to be able to show you guys on here which is a front subframe ( crossmember ) which is such a nice piece. It is the part of this project that I think really makes the car awesome. The talent Ray has can easily be seen in this crossmember , I plan on having a front and rear one from Ray fitted to the Legacy. Here are some updated photos

Ray from Kaminari?
That's a nice piece and him making a front subframe is news to me. Guess that's what I get for being out here in the middle of nowhere for so long.
