93 SS lost Reverse last night (4EAT)

Post by LGT Kirby »

Just as the title says. Anybody have any suggestions? The car acts like it is in Nuetral, when in the Reverse gear.

All other gears work just fine.

I'm guessing it is the pump in the tranny, since the reverse gear takes the most pressure to use.

Any imput is awesome.

Thanks.

No slipping in any forward gears yet? Does it engage reverse if you hold it at say 2k RPM for 5-10 seconds with the selector in R? Have you checked the ATF level with the engine warm and idling in P on level ground?

I've heard (but haven't personally experienced) that reverse is usually the first to experience issues on these transmissions when they are getting worn out.

Tried the 2k rpm thing, didn't engage. All forward gears work, it's had a little bit of slipping in 2nd-3rd since I've had it. Fluid is perfect. Reverse works fine when it's cold as well. Probably just going to swap it.
