Hello everyone, I bought a 91ss sedan and then put a 93 engine in... I spliced the wiring harness(3 plugs under battery) on the car side, worked great just match color for color.. I scraped the 93 so i was able to cut its harness.
the problems:
1:maybe once a wk it throws code 32(purge can solenoid), but it then goes away if i turn the car off then back on.
2:The wire for the knock sensor broke on the car side, I put new connectors on but i still get code 22 all the time
3:Every once in a while it will idle at about 500rpm, I've noticed it happens when its hot and I sit idling for a while.. it drives just fine when this happens, no hesitation when i hit the gas.
Im still running the stock 91 ECU, but i have the 93 ECU... does this matter?
does anyone know what they did different on the 91's vs 93's?
The car runs great, has good power and gets good mileage.. runs the best when its cold

Re: 91 ss questions
You could have swapped the engine harness under the intake manifold.
Anyway, as for the canister purge solenoid. I'd suggest checking the resistance for the purge solenoid and see if it's within specs. Also check the resistance of the wiring from the purge solenoid connector to the ECU. It's common for the canister purge solenoid to throw a CEL and then go off. It's a normal failure mode for it.
The knock sensor is probably bad. I'd suggest running a new wire for it. You need to run a shield wire. microphone wire is probably the cheapest and easiest to find.
Fix the two codes from coming up, and that may address your idle issues.
