Walbro Fuel Pump Questions

Post by turboleg »

Hi All,

I'm getting suspicious of my stock fuel pump on the old EJ22T. With the upgrade list coming up in the coming months (as I get time) it will be necessary to go to a higher flow rate anyway. With that in mind I figured I might as well buy the walbro and go that route initial. Now comes the fun part, I have a couple of questions:

1. I belive there is really just one option from Walbro for a fuel pump. I can't seem to find the walbro Part Number(s) required to make the swap. I've done some searching around here but can't find the actual PN. Can anyone offer it up?
2. Obviously I haven't done the conversion before, does the Walbro Pump that many on this site use act as a drop in replacement, or are there other PN's or Mods required to make it fit?
3. Understanding that I am planning mods, but haven't completed them yet, is it ok to run the walbro pump on a seemingly stock EJ22T setup or is this going to cause run or part failure issues? If I understand the fuel system properly, I can't see where this would be an issue since the FPR is controling fuel pressure. I would imagine that any excess fuel would be pumped back to the fuel tank, and I can't imagine that the stock injectors would be affected by the change.

Thanks in advance guys.

1. GSS341 is the right one
2. Probably drop-in, read the thread I linked
3. It will work fine on your stock setup.

I have the Walbro 255 in each of my cars and they both work great.

It was a complete bolt-in for me. Get the pump as listed in the first pic and the Subaru install kit. Used to be less than $100 for both if you shopped - can't be too much more now.

Awesome guys. I knew I saw the write up a few years ago, but the search terms I was using weren't netting the result I was looking for. Thanks a lot! New Walbro is on order, I didn't do a HUGE amount of searching but did manage to find the entire kit for the subaru on Amazon for $98 shipped.
