Request: throttle position sensor measurements

Post by 91Beater »

Ok, according to here:
http://www.surrealmirage.com/subaru/engine.html

2-3 should be 12kohm
2-4 3-5k WOT, 10-12k no throttle
1-2 shorted on idle

Could you check the value for 2-3, and 2-4 at WOT and no throttle?

Also, how far do you have to move the gas before 1-2 goes from short to open?

My TPS is mouted with two screws and the TPS itself has two oval holes and it can move about once the screws are loosened. Does yours have some means of attachment that prevents movement?

If it does move, how do I calibrate the proper position? Do I move the sensor around until I reach the specific ohm value at WOT, or do I do this at no throttle?

The position vs resistance relationship between that site and the FSM scan are opposite.

Which is right? The FSM's 1 to 4.3 doesn't seem right.

The factory service manual scans are correct. If the Chilton's manual disagrees, disregard it and follow the FSM.

This scan should answer your question about adjustment and idle threshold:

Yeah I would think the FSM should be correct. I believe the readings on my site may be from the Chiltons. I'd have to put a multimeter on the TPS to confirm though.

The FSM is wrong in that part. Chilton's is correct.

2-4 resistance gets smaller with throttle opening, not larger.

I never could get this figured out...ending up going to upull and grabbing a complete throttle body with sensor...which worked!

Ok, thanks for verifying.

Well, glad the new TB worked though.
