Found something very interseting out Today(STi/BC Legacy)

Post by LegacyT »

I work at a Subaru dealership and knowing that STi Japan "supposedly" offeres parts for the Old 89-93 BC STi from this place:

http://www.subaru-sti.co.jp/parts/legac ... slist.html

I printed out the part numbers and just out of curiousity asked the guy in parts if he could get these sti bits. So he took a random number (engine mount) and typed it into the computer. The part came up! an actual BC STi Legacy part. it was $150 Cdn (I'm in canada). I prolly gonna order some swaybar bushings for my car very soon. Their like $4.00. If Subaru Canada does this-then I'm sure Subaru USA will be able to do this aswell.

Could it be he was just looking at the impreza wrx sti engine mount? All ej series mounts are the same afterall. See if he can get the other things

he typed in the part number in with the "ST" STi designation ahead of the number and the part came up. So it is an Sti part. I got him to find the price of a regular Legacy Turbo engine mount and it was $ 60 versus the 150 Sti Legacy engine mount. He also looked up the swaybar bushings for me.

What he is saying though is the STI engine mounts fit any Legacy/Impreza/Forester.

The site is interesting but the only parts I would be interested in would be the stickers!

Ahh yes, the " Handcrafted Tuning by Subaru Tecnica International" decals on the doors eh  Too bad there aren't any visuals on the site.

This is not so stunning. Did you know that every factory Subaru Legacy(not STi) from 1990-1994 and every Impreza from 1994-2001 used the same control arms. And that is just one of dozens of shared parts. Subarus are like Legos...I wouldn't be surprised if that BC mount you found is the same thing as a GC mount.
I go to Super Rupair on occassion and their invoices often say :

Yeah try and find out if either, the part numbers for the legacy STi engine mount and new STi engine mounts are different, or get him to find something unique to legacies, like the rear sway bar. Most/if not all of the bushings from the gc/f chassis are interchangeable with bc/f.

Hay, when you make the perfect chassis from the start, why change it.

Well suspension design anyway, the chassis has seen some serious improvment.

So the list shows Application A, B, C & D...how do we know which cars (year, body, etc.) each application pertains to?

This has been brought up before:
http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?t=2113

Apparently:
A is Feb '89 through Apr '90
B is May '90 through May '91
C is Jun '91 through May '92
D is Jun '92 through Sep '93

As far as I can see, A and B are always together and C and D are always together... Makes sense. A and B would be the pre-facelift body (90-91 here) and C and D would be the post-facelift body (92-94 here).

And the motor mount part numbers listed there are indeed the same as those listed for the GD chassis. Since that's a factory part on the USDM WRX STi, it makes sense that it would be in the dealer's computer.

In theory, a dealer can order any part with an FHI part number, even if it's not in their database. It's supposed to get added when they place the first order. Of course, it all depends on Subaru in Japan being willing to ship them across the world to fill this dealer's order.
