Yeah man, but make sure it's someone you trust like the AA. My mate got someone to do an inspection on a turbo and he (a) didn't drive it faster than 60mph and so didn't discover the severe vibration above that which was caused by (b) the previous accident which wrote the car off and wasn't discovered until AFTER the car had been purchased. Private sale - no comeback...

You live and learn eh...

WISH ME LUCK! I'M GOING IN!

Found a '93, FDSH-ed, 107ker! I'm going the kill! The guy said if I didn't buy it, he'd pay for me train home (this is why being car-less sucks a fat one [hopefully the last time I get ripped off by British "Rail"])... Will keep you all posted, I know how excited for me you all are

Well, I feel financially poorer, but spiritually richer!

There she is sat outside this very minute. 2.5k for it. nearly 109k on the clock, fully serviced by Subaru since registration (all those years ago) 12 months MOT and 4 new tyres. Interior in great condition, all the bellls and whistles, even the original Subaru stereo. And the letters 'BHP' in the registration...

Real baptism of fire for us, back from South Wales To Norwich in dark and rain and a nearly stationary M25. Nothing AWD and a decent turbo couldn't handle though. Got a real buzz surprising Beemer drivers.

Although there are a couple of chips in the windscreen, and the exhaust doesn't look in its first flush, she's in great nick! Clutch fine, regular cambelt replacements, lots oil and air filters changed. No rattles or groans inside, slight windnoise from both front windows at high speed, but with the radio cranked up...

Occasional slight tapping from the engine too, at lowish revs (in time with revs too), that comes and goes. Very quiet, makes it sound diesel-like at times? Anyone any clues? Didn't notice in the extensive test-drive we took, does this sound serious? :? (I imagine someone reading this and thinking to themselves "uh-oh, that's gonna cost him"). She's going in on Monday for a complete health check at my local garage, here goes nothing...

So yes, I now have a real reason to post on this forum! Do Haynes do a manual for these legacies?

These cars all make a little noise at the windows, but if it's excessive you can reduce it by sticking some 1/4" rubber tubing between the weatherstripping folds so that it makes better contact with the window.

Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.

Congratulations!!

Mine does that tappet noise quite a lot of the time and I've learned to ignore it...

Haynes do a workshop manual, but not for UK Legacies. It's a US version and you can buy it here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASI ... 47-7491014

Cheers
