Outback/forester lift for 92 legacy

Post by First subaru »

hello. I have owned a 92 legacy wagon for about 4 years now, this is my first Subaru and this car has been a VERY dependable and trustworthy car. My only complaint is that it sits to low. I have actually been high centered on snow  I have heard and read that I can lift the car using outback/forester struts and springs but the rest of the info about the swap is a little vague. Anyone out there done this? Any help would be appreciated!!!!!! thanks

I assume that you use Legacy Outback parts 96-99? What modifications are required, if any?

legacy 777; thanks for the welcome! the thread is very detailed but unfortunately I have already purchased new KYB struts for a 97 Outback. :( I could send them back but I would eat the shipping cost...uhg! I also have a set of 16" wheels and tires from a 2003 Outback in hand as well. Will the other parts listed in the thread work with these? Or do I need Outback springs and camber bolts? Thanks again!

Unfortunately, I don't have any direct experience with the suspension lift setups. I'd suggest posting that specific question in that thread and hopefully someone can provide you some feedback.

Since its the spring perch location on the strut that provides most of the lift, you should be alright with the KYBs. They're a good quality strut. You can use the rest of the outback lift parts along with your stock springs for a decent lift and install the springs later if you're in need of more height.

i've done this to my 2nd touring wagon its fairly easy with all the parts.
i reused my wagons strut mounts
struts and springs from a 2004 FXT
gives it about 1.5" lift
