idler tensioner and pulleys
I may be needing replacement tensioner and pulleys for my '94 TW. Is it recommended that I use OEM parts or are other manufacturers' parts decent to use? Any recommendations on where I can get them inexpensively (and obviously they have to be quality parts)? Thanks for your help, guys!

Re: idler tensioner and pulleys
I'm sure every one here will say oem but I've used ones on eBay without any problems. On the other hand 2.2s is a non interference motor and if one fails it doesn't hurt any thing. Also some idlers have double bearings (those would be best) that has saved me once when an oem one failed with 370,000 and drove 125 miles on the races back home. I think cheaper ones are fine, but oem is always good.

Go cheap Ebay kit. No big deal. I've used them twice now and I'm using them on my DOHC interference engine with no worries. I think some of them are even made by the same manufacturer as the OEM ones but they're way cheaper.

I dont know if it's true across the board, but the oem fuji heavy belts are gates. As far as i have seen. Easily picked up at most auto parts stores.
I personally use gates.

Re: idler tensioner and pulleys
I got an ebay kit with green bearings, and it was a Mitsuboshi belt. GMB water pump. Everything seems great so far, the bearings on the pulleys looked good and spun well. They were the double bearings. But, they did come with realy crappy looking cheap chinese pathetic excuse for steel bolts. So I re-used the bolts from the car cause they were clearly much better.
I personally use Gates serpentine belts and coolant hoses, though. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to use one of their t-belts.
