Door and ignition key lock cylinders need replacing.

Post by 808Legacy »

It looks like I need to replace my driver's door cylinder and my ignition cylinder, so I am thinking that I ought to go ahead and replace the passenger and rear door cylinders to match. Does anyone know if I can replace all of them with one set, or do I need to go to a locksmith to re-key the working ones and match them all? I've read some threads here that make it sound like re-keying might be do-able myself, so I bookmarked those. Just don't want to get in over my head!

Thanks in advance!

I just had new keys made for my wife's car, it was getting hard to unlock the doors and start the car without having to wiggle the key. It cost me 35.00 to make the new keys and to rekey an old drivers door lock. I figured it wasn't worth my time to do it my self. I took passengers side lock out my self (that's the less worn out) and had new keys made to fit. The old keys were really worn, now the ignition work like new.

I think you may be able to buy all new locks as a set.

I changed a set of locks from a parts car. it takes a bit of time for the doors but the others were fairly quick on a sedan.
