GT rims + what tires???

Post by subiecar »

:?: In a short time, I`ll be putting on my GT wheels (16" x 6.5" wide, right?) and need to know if anyone has run a 215 wide tire that matches or is real close to the 21.4" height needed to maintain the speedo/odometer accuracy. i`m planning on running either Michelens (sp?) or T/A touring tires. I have GR2 struts and 1.5" lowering springs; any info good or bad would be greatly appreciated.---Rod

well I have GT wheels and 205/55 tyres on my turbo, my speedo reads about 5 km's low. They dont rub which is good. What kind of springs do you have in your car? Any pics?

I thought the GT wheels where 16x7? If so why not 215 45 16, it will give you a great mechanical advantage to the road. If you REALLY want some ultra sticky tires look for Falken Azenis in that size, thats what Ill be using on my turbo wagon.

If you do have 16x6.5 I suggest 205 50 16, I have these on another legacy and you dont have to worry about rubbing.

The GT and WRX wheels are 16x6.5, the 98-01RS wheels are 16x7s.

I read on Nasioc twice that its more. Here is a good qoute:

"OE Legacy GT wheel is heavier than the RS and WRX stock wheel. It weighs 18 (or 18.5, I forget exactly) lbs"

Meaning you passed up the cheap WRX wheels that are lighter and the wider RS wheels to get Heavy and Expensive GT wheels! (that in my opinion look too busy)
