I have the glove box off and I got the clips off. It feels like its about to come off, but something is snagging on the firewall side that prevents the two halves from coming apart.
Can I get the bottom half out so I can clean the evaporator and replace the expansion valve without dismantling the dash?

The entire evaporator box has to come out as one piece. You can not take just the bottom half of the evaporator box out. The AC lines have to be disconnected, and once that is done, it slides out pretty easily.
Here are some pics of the evaporator box.

I've looked at those before I posted here. I didn't really find it helpful in figuring out how to get it out of the car.

Well....like I said, you can't remove just the bottom portion of the box.

Re: Getting lower evaporator cover out
I got pretty damn close. It was one set screw that was keeping me from doing it. If it wasn't of that screw I would haveLegacy777 wrote:Well....like I said, you can't remove just the bottom portion of the box.

Bad news is that I got everything back together and A/C is still no go.
