Stock equal length more benificial than stock unequal?

Post by martimus919 »

I forgot I had this laying around, wondering if it's worth swapping to? I like that they'll be easier to deal with than the unequal length heat shields.

It looks like that ends in the right place to bolt the up pipe to. This is the first I have ever seen of one.

Just a shot in the dark, but I'd imagine if equal length was more beneficial then the manifold would be equal length. But if it fits you could try it, can't hurt.

The up-pipe location is close, but not the same. You'll need to modify the up-pipe if you wanted to try it out.

Here are some pics of a JDM turbo manifold.

Interesting manifold. I don't think an up-pipe will bolt to that though. The newer n/a manifolds are kind of like that too but have a little smoother collector because they use the new pan and have more room.

The only equal length OEM turbo manifold I know of is the twin-scroll setup on newer STis.

I can't believe the pipe clears the oil filter. Did you ever try mounting it up? I'd be interested in knowing your impressions of the improvement. I've heard there isn't an extreme advantage to equal length without a twin scroll. Not sure how true that is.
