This should help determine whether you have a compatible tranny: http://www.gearhack.com/myink/ViewPage. ... on%20Chart . My '94 TW had an AT to MT swap and the tranny code is the same as the one in my '95 impreza 1.8l coupe so I would think you are probably allright.

stock trans will be a 3.9 F/D and has a pull style clutch. most of the N/A legacys were 4.11 with a push style clutch. good luck.

As Rubasu noted, the turbo transmissions have a pull style clutch, which is different than the non-turbo setups. In addition, until about late 90's they use a cable setup vs. hydraulic. You could convert the cable setup to hydraulic or find a hydraulic non-turbo setup and keep your clutch master cylinder.

What year and model was the car that the transmission came from that you found?

That's going to be cable operated transmission with 4.111 gearing. If you want to use that transmission, you'll also need to swap the rear diff.

I would also suggest converting it to a hydraulic clutch fork setup. I haven't done it before, but I think the issue might be is there a spot to mount the clutch slave cylinder. If the trans can't be easily converted to a hydraulic clutch fork setup, you'd need to swap the clutch pedal & brake assembly over to the cable setup....which in my opinion is a pain in the ass....and I'd keep looking for another transmission.
