I was given a non running 93 Touring Wagon for free. :-D It is missing a few of the air intake parts, but no big deal. My plan is to remove the longblock, harness, crossmembers, down pipe, brakes, etc., and swap it all into my second gen 95 BK. I'll take a year or so to build the motor and get all my ducks in a row.

Rob, would you want the SS ecu as a partial trade towards one of your 20G ecus, or am I better off finding a 20G on my own? I definitely want one of your ecus for my 22T swap into the second gen.

Thanks for the offer, but I don't have a need for the SS ECU. If you can find an ECU on your own, then that would be best. Otherwise depending on when you are ready I might have a spare to sell.

I'm picking up an ej20h tt this weekend, i'm wondering h ow your tune would work for it due yo the twin turbo motors having higher compression? It would be converted to single turbo of course.

Mostly just barely keeping up with current demand. Otherwise a little more work on the Z32 vaporware tune. Also started looking into EJ20K chipping.

Boy, that's a tough one to guess. If it's the 9.0:1 version, then probably a non-starter. There was also an 8.5:1 version. After that, I really don't know how the ecu pinout differs. Which MAF does it run? Couldn't you just buy a normal motor? :D

Well, I.m getting a super good deal on it or else I wouldn't even bother. I didn't pay attention to what maf it had but I do have a pic of the ecu, i'll look for it. Either way, the wiring will be for an EJ22t so I can repin it to work for the EJ20g. Its just the highe compression that I was worried about so i'll figure out what it is.

I have a V5 G ECU headed my way and I'm excited to get it "RobTuned"!!! Nice thing is I have all the parts chillin' in my basement/workshop that I could run either tune option (including a full 20G top end). The 16g turbo needs rebuilt before I'd feel safe installing it on the car though.

So is it a common agreement that the higher tune (STi injectors) requires changing over to a FMIC or would a better quality TMIC do just as good of job? I have the 06/07 WRX on the car now with the TD04. I plan on a Hot Coat on the turbo along with a Perrin turbo blanket and wrapping the U/P & D/P to deminish heat soak. My main reason for asking is I'm trying to keep the car as close to stock looking on the outside as possible and a FMIC grabs a lot of visual interest from people.

No...Rob Tune doesn't require a FMIC....

With the Rob Tune you'll be slightly above STi power levels (~275hp/torque @ the wheels w/the tuned ECU - 16G and 550's) - and the STi does fine w/the TMIC.

More important than the TMIC vs. FMIC, IMHO, is routing the air to/thru the TMIC.

I had the same setup (16G, 550s, '06/07 TMIC, Rob Tune) and suffered from heat soak during the summer, so I'd recommend looking for ways to get a good seal between the hood scoop and TMIC, a splitter/diffuser ...and a bigger scoop (Yeah, kinda ruins the stock look), which is a challenge unless you're good w/body work. Also, the turbo blanket and heat shield are good ideas.

Another option is Meth injection (but ask Rob 1st!!) or add an STi IC sprayer setup, to keep it in 'sleeper' mode.

I've been working on a mold for creating a replica Liberty RS hood scoop. This will at least look like it belongs on the car but be taller to grab more air.

As for the intercooler, I've been more of a TMIC fan due to the drastic intake track length vs FMIC. So I guess I'll look into picking up an STi or aftermarket TMIC to upgrade from my 06/07 WRX.

^STi TMIC won't fit. The Legacy doesn't have as much space/depth(?) between the firewall and throttle body as WRX/STi. "Measure twice, cut once". :-)

Insert shameless plug for AWICs here. Seriously though, stock look, stock scoop function if you keep the chimney, TMIC air path with FMIC dissipation location, only downsides are cost/weight and legwork for sourcing the extra parts (mine was around $350 total). It can un-heatsoak itself with the car stationary if you have a good heat exchanger. They're freaking awesome.

So I'm having troubles here. Got everything in and the car won't start.. I don't know what the problem is, but it's not getting spark for some reason. It sits there and cranks but will not start, I can smell that it is greeting fuel. Double and triple checked the wires from the converter into the ecu, they seem good.. Checked the cel code and it is 45, which is the pressure sensor right? Could that cause it not to start? Did I do something wrong? Anyone else have this problem?

45 is the either MAP/pressure sensor or pressure exchange solenoid.

1. How did you wire in MAP sensor? The correct way is to remove pin 5 on B48 and join it with pin 21 on B48 @ the ECU connector.
2. How did you actually connect everything? Solder, crimp connectors, etc??
3. How did you wire in the converter? Verify each step from Rob's post HERE (half-way down).

I emailed Rob probably 3 weeks ago stating that I'm ready to purchase his whole kit, but have heard nothing back yet.

Oh wow. Weird. I haven't seen him on in quite a while and I haven't heard an update on the EJ22T ECU in ages. I think he just lives a busy life and has higher priorities. But that's no excuse if you've accepted money from someone. Does he know you sent him the money?
