What mpg should AT FWD be getting in the city?

Heads, valves, pistons, rods, crankshaft, etc...

What mpg should AT FWD be getting in the city?

Post by 91Beater »

Sometimes I can get over 26 on a long trip. I've gotten close to 20 combined, but its back to 16mpg again.
WTF?! :(

For a FWD AT, you should be getting better. I got mid 20's in the city and could easily get 30 on the freeway.

How is the car running? Have you checked the routine maintenance stuff, plugs, wires, filters, etc?

It runs fine. Never stalled once. Occasional idle surge, but that's it.
Filters and plugs only have 4,000 miles on it as I replaced them myself.

Car warmed up, fill up at a station, drive 250 miles, then fill up again, I get 27 maybe.

Worst I got was 15 in city traffic with A/C on. Sometimes I can get 18 combined.

Those are pretty wide numbers you see 18 to 27. Usually you shouldn't see that much of a swing.

Did you replace the spark plug wires as well?

Wires do not appear damaged, so no.

I would suggest checking their resistance with a multi meter just to see if any are different from each other.
