Check engine light. please help
hey everyone! i have a 1994 ss and the check engine light comes on when i turn it on if the car is cold and when it rises to operating temp it turns off at idle but sometimes turns on while im driving. i trying using the green connector to red it and nothing came up so i tried to clear it but that didnt work either. does anyone know what this could be? please help.

You should be using the black connectors only to check for stored codes in memory.

okay so got the code read.
it was code 22. so the knock sensor.
i have a couple questions now.
can i replace that on my own or would i have to take it into a shop? and if i can on my own where would it be located??

Yes you should be able to replace it yourself.
If you look directly down at the engine block from where the throttle cable cams are, you should see it. It's a round black plastic thing about an inch in diameter with a cable coming up to a connector under the intake piping/throttle body. It's held onto the block by a 12 mm bolt. You should be able to just remove that bolt and pull it out. A magnetic wand or similar is helpful to get the bolt out.
