1. That's not a ABM car which is why he wants it.samuelpop wrote:I have a 1993 Subaru Legacy GT Turbo Touring Wagon for sale.legacy1992 wrote:I want this car... Where is it now and is it for sale. Anyone have one similar. Let me know. Thanks

2. This is an old thread that got necro-bumped, that doesn't mean to come in here and sell, start a new thread.
3. That is not a GT, a GT was 94 only and non-turbo with a raised roof. Yours is a TW, a touring wagon.
4. That is rough AND high mileage AND needs major maintenance, and you want basically 10k for it? Even now you can buy a super clean one, sedan or wagon with a manual swap, for less then 7k still, and some stull less then 4k. I know we're not suppose to harp on peoples asking prices but there is a difference between an asking price and a scam.
5. I see you only made one post, this one, so I doubt you'll even see this.

Re: (Save) 1994 Subaru Legacy Turbo Wagon A/T - Very Clean
@Legacy1992 - I currently own the exact Wagon above. It looks exactly the same as it did when this was posted except for one small dent in the front bumper and a small scratch on the rear bumper as well as some paint wear on the hood. Nothing a detail job can't fix. The biggest thing is that's wrong with it now is that it needs a new transmission and needs shift linkage adjustment. I have two non-functioning AT's. Both came with the car upon purchase. One was "rebuilt" and the other was the functioning tranny that drove in the car. The previous owner mentions both of these trannys above minus the fact that the "rebuilt" tranny no longer works. Option A). Both need to be rebuilt Option B) purchase a new transmission with different gear ratios from a newer Subaru and replaced along with a rear dif to fit the moutning specs.
For clarification, I will call the tranny that functioned and came in the car upon purchase the - "old" tranny. I will call the tranny that came with the car but not inside the car the "rebuilt" tranny.
The transmission issues have been haunting me for almost two years now. I purchased the car from a friend in Kings Beach, CA. I drove it for about one year and put about 7,000mi on it. When purchased the car slipped in 4th, as I drove it, the tranny started to slip in 3rd and 4th pretty frequently so I decided to put the "rebuilt" tranny that the car came with. This "rebuilt" transmission did not work when I installed it with my friend.
So I put the "old" tranny that was slipping in 3rd and 4th back in the car as of last week. It worked for about 1 day, then shit the bed REAL BAD. I was test driving it around the block, had just changed and put in new tranny fluid and oil. I was accelerating and was at about 2,600rpms going about 25mph. I heard metal break, and lost all acceleration power. The motor stayed on. I hear slight grinding as I pulled over to park it. I'm assuming the fluid wasn't high enough and it got too hot and snapped something. I truly f*ed that up, and have been beating myself up since because I know better than that.
The car currently starts, turns over, and revs. However, it will not move forward or backward in gear or reverse. It moves freely in neutral but has a metal clicking sound coming from the tranny as it rolls.
I've been trying to figure out what to do with it as I have to move to Santa Barbara for work in the coming months. I spoke with a guy at a Subaru shop in Sacramento and he said to do the tranny swap with a newer Outback tranny with a higher gear ratio. The current tranny has a 3:90 and the one he suggested is 4:44. I personally don't know enough about this to even try and make a decision. I just know the tranny swap option would cost $850 rather than $2k-$3k for a tranny rebuild.
Any suggestions, offers, advice, etc?
Carl
