4EAT and the infamous code 24

Post by wyomikey »

I have a previous post on here asking about hesitations in my auto tranny. My curiosity also led me to Josh 's website and how to do self diagnosis check on the TCU. Upon checking,..and mind you i'm not flashing any current codes.I performed the "existing "problem check and my "power" light just flashed steadily with no long or short flashes,....so i'm guessing that it meant i have no current issues? The "previous"problem check, flashed a code 24 "solenoid duty C" and code 33 "speed sensor #2 ". I'm not sure if these act like "check engine" light codes and remain in the computer until cleared. For shites and giggles i did a quick check and plugged in a 15 amp fuse to the FWD fuse holder and drove her around on both dry pavement and dirt. Fuse "in" she drove like a front wheel drive should, spinning the fronts in the dirt like normal. Without the fuse you definetley felt the rear wheels grabbing the dirt,..on dry pavement she seemed to be okay,...i drove her around in tight figure 8's with my head out the window, you could feel the rear wheels gripping but no binding or chirping.

I guess i should mention that i have had my 90' Legacy for about 6 months, she had 111K miles and the tranny had been replaced by previous owner,...i didn't ask why. A month or so ago i would periodically get a "power" light flash upon starting, i haven't had it since. THanks to Josh and his website he saved me a trip to Subaru!

Anyways,....is it possible that these are old codes,.....or codes flashed from the previous transmission???

go to auto zone, borrow a code reader, clear all codes including stored codes and drive it for a week. after the week check for codes
