Front differential full of tranny fluid???

1992 legacy is leaking tranny fluid into front diff?? was wondering if i can fix problem without taking it to tranny shop i have read in may be pinion seal or mabey output shaft seal?? answers much appriciated

The front differential has it's own drain on an automatic, so you should be able to flush it out with some cheap gear oil and replace with nicer stuff.

It could possibly have been filled with ATF, by mistake. Try flushing it with gear oil first, as Mike suggested. If it re-fills with ATF, then you know you've got a leak internally.
