Was curious if anyone has run across the specfic differences between the lower clutch cover plate between the 5spd & 6spd transmissions. The parts book shows a different part number, but I'm not really sure what the difference is.
Also, Subaru switched to a different part number for the flywheel bolts on their "newer 02+" 5spd & 6spd flywheels. Anyone know what the difference if any might be, other than the part #?
Thanks!

Re: 6spd clutch cover plate & flywheel bolt differences
Well I found my answer regarding the dust plate. So I'll be picking up the 6spd plate and take pictures of both.

Re: 6spd clutch cover plate & flywheel bolt differences
I measured the depth of the 5spd & 6spd bolt holes and the results are below
Exedy 5spd LW flywheel bolt hole depth: 0.615"
Subaru 6spd stock flywheel bolt hole depth: 0.492"
So that's 0.123" difference in depth. I will probably just stick with the old bolts unless someone has any additional info to share.
Also, I realized the 6spd flywheel uses 9 bolts instead of 6, and I believe I'm using the old non-turbo bolts, so I may just order new bolts. I got to check first.

Re: 6spd clutch cover plate & flywheel bolt differences
Do they use grade 8 bolts? They have a proof load of 120000psi

Re: 6spd clutch cover plate & flywheel bolt differences
Grade 8 is only applicable to US bolts. Here's a chart with the differences between US & metric bolts
http://k-tbolt.com/bolt_chart.html
As for flywheel bolts, I'm not sure what class they are. There are no markings on them.

Re: 6spd clutch cover plate & flywheel bolt differences
Yeah 9 vs 6 bolts but I have not ever noticed a difference between them, and aftermarket clutches come with new ones.
It is always a good idea to use new flywheel crank and pressure plate to flywheel bolts. And use a torque wrench and blue loctite.
I remember reading about the OEM bolts somewhere but can't remember. Probably 10.9, but for the flywheel it's possible they are 12.9.
