She's back!!

Post by boostjunkie »

So I got my car back on Sat afternoon. Decided yesterday morning to test out everything and make sure the engine was in order.

Boost was set at 14psi. Car ran pretty well, with a slight hesitation around 4000rpm. On the way home from pickin up boxes a Chevy pickup (silverado? I can't remember) pulled up behind me. It was LOUD! I pull away from the light normally, shift to second at 4000rpm, and the guy pulls right up on my bumper. I opened up second and saw him open up as well. By the time I got midway through third, I had put about 2 car lengths on him.

He pulls up next to me at the next light and opens his window. I do the same.

"Damn, that car's quick!"

Thanks, not bad for a car with 204,000miles on it, eh?"

The light turns green again and he punches it. Gets the drop on me I run up first, through second, makin up the deficit, and then through half of third as I pull hard on him. I slow down to let him get in front of me and at the next light he pulls into the left lane and stops to talk to me.

"Man, you must have done some serious work to that car! I can usually smoke most souped up Hondas with this *engine code that I'm not familiar with*

I reply . . . *chuckle*

"It's not a honda!"

I punched it one more time and noticed a boost leak so I pull into the house and find the bov connection coming loose. I fixed it with some crafty work with exhaust tape, heat gun, and zip ties. Must've been a big leak because the next run I peaked at 16psi!

Sweet. 8)

Do you consider your repair to the dump valve tubing semi-permanent, or do you still need to figure something else out?

It's semi-permanent as far as I can tell. I'm very relucatant to permanently affix the intercooler hose to the bov, considering that silicone hose is trez-expensive!

Works like a charm. I measured voltages pre-fcd and post-fcd with the ignition on but no the engine (0.00 on the boost gauge). The values were DEAD ON!! Started the engine and crossed my fingers . . .

No CE light (unlike my old hks fcd piece of crap) and boost cut eliminated!!
