is it cheaper to rebuild a auto trans or get everything for a 5 speed swap including labor

To do a proper rebuild on an auto trans, it could be up to $3000. As for the 5spd swap, I'm not sure how much a shop would charge you for labor. The cheapest route is to probably get a used auto trans to replace the existing one.

i'm in colorado and shipping from mass to here would be way to much

If he's going to give you the trans, shipping would probably equate to the cost of finding a good used trans in Colorado.

Look at http://www.freightcenter.com for shipping prices. That's what I used to find a carrier to ship my trans. I think it was like $200 to ship the trans from Chicago to Houston. I picked it up at a depot location, which helped save costs.

Anyway, it may be worth looking into.

true. but they trans shop has to let me know whats wrong with mine yet
