Nah I am actually pretty sure the cardone parts are built and remaned in the US, i'll double check the box, nut I have used these axles before and they were fine....I was sliding all over the place so I was beating on the car to the max when it happened lol...but still it was new so I figured it could take it.

Do you get yours right from subaru? I would do that but I could get custom one made at a local shop for cheaper and they would be stronger.

We have a place that does that stuff locally too. I just did the gasket on the AT trans and it is already leaking again, the gasket never set for whatever reason, it was still goupy.... this is after already doing it once and having it leak slightly near the rear of the pan...now I re did it and it leaks even worse b/c the gasket never set up properly...I let it sit overnight so maybe it solidified...who knows. Honestly I am tired of the AT trans, there is a guy selling a RWD converted trans for cheap I might just grab that and say goodbye to the auto...I hate automatics for this very reason.

It looks like the brilliant minds at AAMCO tightened the bolts way too much and raised all the bolt holes so the gasket can't get a good seal, I tried to fix it with a hammer and block of wood but it doesn't look like it worked very well. I will try one last time and then I am going to sell the transmission and put this car on jack stands until all the other stuff it needs is done...then I am burning down my local AAMCO... that is all.

turns out my hammer skills are on point, the pan was sealed perfectly...I crawled under the car with a creeper today and saw that it was coming from one of the fittings and spreading out on the gasket and just looked like it was leaking from there
Image
So I am sure you can understand why I'd think the gasket was leaking again....turns out it was another case of AAMCO not doing their job right...I know I never touched that fitting, gave it like 1/4 turn, no more leak....made me happy

It seems that there are very very few transmission shops that can work on these transmissions with any sort of compentancy.

Money well spent.....yeah right, I should have just used that $1300 to kindle a damn fire. Anyways everything is fine now, except my STi struts are clunking like crazy I am going to see if I can borrow a set from my buddy with a totalled RS. it is a 98 I am pretty sure they will fit until I can add some grease to the V7 struts.

I decided to replace the gauge lights today, one was actually burnt out too. I used 2 194 high intensity purple, 2 74 led purple and 2 74 led amber lights on the ends for the fuel and temp gauges...you can't tell but it makes the needles light up more brightly, they might be better in red so I might try those int he future.
Image
I know they look blue here but trust me, they are purple as fuck, not sure why they look so blue...speaking of things that look blue on camera for some reason, I got these.
Image
I read somewhere you need the PFR69-123, These are the 122....not sure if they will fit but the look like they should. Can anyone confirm??

Yeah, you want 123. I'm not sure what the difference is between the 123 & 122 models.

Here are my pictures:

They too look blue. I guess it's a digital camera thing.

Wish I would have know the STi struts are notorious clunkers BEFORE I installed them lol.

Those 5mt dccd's don't come along too often. Gotta jump on it when you see one. :)

Are the dccd transmissions even all that they're hyped up to be? I thought they barely changed the bias at all.

The advantage of the DCCD isn't that it has a different split, although it is a little more rear biased, the main advantage is that it isn't a reactive AWD system where slippage has to occur to lock like the viscous AWD in a regular 5MT.

Yeah I am, I am just being lazy because it is a huge pain....I guess if I wait too long they will eventually get ruined...no scoring or marks on them yet. I know the STi guys would drive around like that for years b/c the dealer won't drill them and install zerks. I am getting a set of loaner 98 RS struts until I can overhaul mine.

I want the DCCD mainly for the full lock on the rear diff, the front is still in the mix I think 30%=40%, it just promotes a bit more understeer which is very fun and manageable on the STis...you still gotta force it though, like a scandinavian flick.

More understeer? I think you meant oversteer. Understeer is already a problem with these cars. Sort of. Its a lot easier to control understeer than oversteer in an emergency.

Derp, yeah oversteer is what I meant. They are definitely understeering beasts in stock form, A big rear swaybar helps out big time although from what I understand we have a very limited selection and the biggest size is 22mm? Unless you want to cut out the spare tire hump.

I would have gotten the complete whiteline rear end if I had known that I couldn't use the WRX swaybars...is there a factory swaybar I can use like the tribeca or something? I really wanted a 25mm rear swaybar, even if it isn't adjustable.
