Hi everyone. im new to this forum. iv just bought a new subaru for 250NZD. the cars in great condision but its only running on 3 cylinders. iv tested all the park plugs and coils. there fuel getting to the cylinder because when you take the spark plug its coated in fuel. iv been told by the guy i bought it of it computer related. its got a aftermarket apexi pfcgc8a computer. i also found what could possibly be the orignal ecu. pluged that in and still runing on 3cylinders.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I dont know much about subarus

How did you test the spark plugs and spark plug wires? Have you tried moving plugs and plug wires around to see if the problem moves? Have you performed a compression test? I had this same problem and mine ended up being a burnt exhaust valve. The compression test will verify if valves and rings are working as they should.

Re: 1990legacy running on 3 cylinders
So three things are relate to your issue
1) Does it have spark?
2) Does it have fuel?
3) Does it have compression?
You have already found that it has fuel, so get the answers to #1 and then #3 and you will find your issue. Hopefully it is just in need of plugs and/or wires.
