I had exedy stage 1 and stage 2 which I was extremly happy with. Imo you should also drop a little cash on a flywheel. I started with an extra cheap fw from autozone. When I decided to pull the engine for some engine bay work I notticed the ring gear was mangled and the contact surface was showing some stress cracks.this was after only 20k miles! Its definitley worth an extra $50-$100 for a reliable brand.

What reliable brand are you getting for that cheap? Just get an exedy wrx clutch. That's what I'm using and it holds 225whp just fine. Ebay has em. If you want an aftermarket flywheel exedy makes one they sell with the clutch kit on ebay.

Oh I didn't read that right. After market flywheels aren't cheap. Mine retails for $475. I think the average is probably 250ish. I would just resurface a used oem one that is in decent shape.

No problem. I just looked to see what brand fw I bought that failed. I shoild have known better from the name on the receipt "Standard" is the only branding. I think it was around $125 or so...but I think an oem WRX fw can be had for around $200-225 or so. I guess the real question is how much power is getting to the ground and what is the cars use..street strip TA.

I personally don't care for resurfacing the flywheels, but I guess that really depends on how much is taken off and your personal preference.

I'm with Josh on resurfacing. On top of other concerns its extra expense to fix what could be new.

I used a resurfaced Turbo Legacy flywheel with no issues at all. No clutch chatter or slipping. I also used an Exedy KSB03 WRX replacement clutch and it didn't slip with 18psi of boost from a TD05-16G.
