Getting the lens off the corner lens

Post by MConte05 »

Is there any secret to this? I've been trying to pop the lens off my corner lenses so that I can remove the orange piece and paint the inside black (to go with my headlights). But the plastic is so brittle that it just seems to shatter the actual housing itself when I am trying to pry it apart.

You need to heat it. It's 20 year old plastic lol it's bound to be brittle

Are you trying to get the corner light off the chassis or just getting the lense out of the light assembly?

If it's the latter, then yes you need to heat it up to soften the glue.

Back into the oven they'll go then! I baked them at 250* for about 10 minutes, same with my headlights. Headlights came apart easy, but the corner lenses wouldn't budge.
