Head bolt info (not sure where to put this)

Post by Someperson »

I just found out at the parts store that the head bolts are stretch type head bolts, that is why they dissuade us from reusing them after doing a HG or things of that nature. They are only guaranteed to torque to spec once, then their structural integrity is weakened for the next time you go to use them. just thought you guys should know ^.^

That may be the case, and I don't disagree with that statement, but there are numerous techs and people that reuse the head bolts.

I know, just wanted to put the reason why they say not to out there so people know why it isn't recommended

I've reused mine twice, and there's no mention of them being single use in the FSM.

No, arp makes non-stretch reusable bolts.
