I've seen those before. Good buy I think. Really drops the temps and surface temp of the manifold. What's nice about these is they don't need intake gaskets. My phenolic spacers use two sets of gaskets which makes for a real pain installing them as the top set slides around too easy while you're bolting the manifold down.

PTFE is essentially teflon, right? I'm curious to know how it compares to phenolic resin for heat shielding.

Yeah, PTFE is the real abbreviation of Polytetrafluoroethylene. Dupont coined the name Teflon to make it easier and sexier from a sales standpoint.

It's hard to say what the heat transfer characteristics will be like without knowing the exact grade of PTFE they're using. Compared to Aluminum however its a considerable difference. For example a common grade of Aluminum (6061-T6) has a heat transfer rate of about 1160 BTU-in/ft²-hr-°F whereas a random grade of unfilled Teflon is around 1.7 BTU-in/ft²-hr-°F. On paper thats a considerable difference and a great insulator.

I'm a bit on the fence about the PTFE only because it has a relatively low heat deflection temperature (in the 130-140 degree range when its compressed). I suppose this was part of the reason for the o-rings. They'll likely help to distribute the load and to help seal the intake to the head.

I have the Phenolic version from Grimmspeed. I haven't measured the post install intake temps yet.

Carl davey over in the uk has been making these for quite some time. 115 euros shipped.

I've bought a couple things from him and the quality is top notch.

That converts to about US$150. I'd also be interested to see a comparison between the Phenolics and PTFE. I think I paid US$99 for the Grimmspeed Phenolic set.

Kimokalihi, have you purchased teh PTFE ones from Carl Davey?

No but I bought his phase2 to phase1 sidefeed injector conversion kit and some metal coolant reservoir tank insulator mounts and both were very high quality and shipped pretty quick considering it was across the atlantic and the entire usa. Good guy. I like what he's doing and I don't like grimmspeed so I'd pay more for his stuff. I have grimmspeed phenolic 8mm right now.

Good to know. I'll have to check more of his products out. I'm digging the coolant tank insulators.

They're pricey but half of that is the shitty exchange rate since the dollar has dropped so much in value. Stupid government. Just so we can wage wars on invisible enemies.
