picture request : middle speedometer connection

My speedo cable disconnected and I'm trying to reconnect it. What I cannot figure out is how the little u shaped clip connects the two sides.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Do you see the little groove in the round plastic piece at the bottom of the picture? This is what that clip connects to.

Or are you having issues figuring out how the clip connects to the cable?

I am talking about the middle section that is inside the engine bay near the firewall. There is a little wire clip that resembles a horseshoe.
