EJ22t Head question.

Post by Nexmo.co »

I'm building a hybrid motor and have come into some conflicting information from people.
I would like to know what the pipe under the oil outlet on the back of the passenger side head is.
people have told me its coolant, people have told me it's oil, some say in, some say out.
So i thought I'd ask you, the experts!

Welcome to the forum. Circled in red is a coolant port from the turbo. The other two are also marked correctly.

The coolant flows between the plastic coolant overflow box into the turbo and then through the head at the red circle. When you shut off the engine, I believe the coolant's flow reverses and rises through convection currents, continually moving until the coolant is, uh cooler. That's why it isn't necessary to have a turbo timer on a stock setup.

A minor correction, that circled port supplies coolant to the turbo. Coolant flows from the head to the turbo and then to the coolant filler tank.

I knew whichever way I said it went, it would be the opposite. Thanks Josh. ;)
