CEL code woes.

Post by Baddog »

So the 93 SS has been flashing check engine lights at me since we got it. This happens when the ignition is in the "on" position. I finally put it into D-Check mode tonight. In D-check mode it is throwing 2 codes. 33 and 35. Both of which I know what they are.

However when I unplug the green connectors. It shows about 7 total codes when the ignition is back in the "on" position.

I am thinking it is showing past codes? How do I get rid of this? I checked under the dash for the black connectors but am unable to locate them. The one I thought it was, was for the seat belt and door chime.

It looks like the greens and may be taped in, dig around, took me like 3 hours the first time. 1 wire to 1 wire! Sounds like it's plugged in

CEL code woes.

It's right in that general area as the black plug. There's a reset procedure to get rid of the codes.

Green plugs have been found and are disconnected. I dug around there for about an hour for the black ones. No luck. I think the black ones are plugged in. Just can't find them.

The reset procedure didn't make sense to me when I read it. Was a wall of text. And as usual most people make it more difficult in write ups then needed. And I am terrible with deciphering

If your getting a blinking CEL, then yes it sounds like the black connectors are connected.

Here is a picture of the black connector.

Sometimes the black connectors may be on the other side of the steering column.

As for resetting the codes, you need to have both the black and green connectors connected.

You can also pull fuse 14, ECM/TCU for about an hour.
