2002 WRX exhaust system

Post by edgarmoresco »

I picked up a 2002 WRX midpipe and muffler at the amazing price of $18 on eBay. I need to know if it will fit on my 94 non-turbo Legacy. I had to recently replace my y-pipe and had to settle for an aftermarket piece I also got on eBay. Any ideas?
Also, the car has 345K and needs a clutch and is ticking anyone know the cheapest way to approach this?
TIA

I think you'd need to move the hangers to the right spots and have the midpipe lengthened at the least... not sure.

http://www.specclutch.com/ - this is what i am running, stage 2 for my turbo.

check your oil level. and change it often. neglecting either will lead to the ticking.

you'll probably need to do similar stuff as I did with the gc muffler

WoW! You did it! Can you send me the other pics you mentioned in the posts. Also, about how much did the shop charge you? Thanks!

Here's another thread that may prove a little helpful...It is about doing the same thing on an RS, but has some good pics and remarks about the flanges and whatnot...

I just mounted a 2002 WRX exhaust to our 91 Legacy Turbo. The modifications that needed to be done were as follows:
Axleback pipe lengthened 5.5 inches and replacement of exhaust hangers
Midpipe lengthened 2 inches at the front. This way you can use the exhaust hanger on it.

After that it bolted right up. I actually just cut the front most hanger off of the axle back section and bent the passenger side hanger on the box upward about 3/4 of an inch. It fits just fine and doesn't move at all. The welding cost $30 and I did the rest myself.

Using a WRX muffler on a non turbo car, or even older turbo subarus isnt always the best idea. Depending on your specific car you can get very loud whistling from the muffler. No joke!

My brother had chirping (yeah, like birds) from his RS when he stuck a WRX muffler on it. He had a shop replace the tips and the chirping disappeared.
