My driver side wiper arm is broken.

Post by robertpaige »

The driver side arm stopped moving and now I can basically spin the whole arm freely. So I think the drive motor is toasted or something. Anyway how do I get in there to fix it? Remove the black strip under the windshield? Anyone got some pointers? It's raining hard this week... Sucks to drive in.

Is it just the drivers side? If so the motor is good, the linkage might have fallen off or broke where it snaps on the arm.

And yes it's under the black panel under the wiper arms. It kinda a PITA to get it back on.

Passenger side works fine. Is it possible to tighten the linkage back up or something? Also how would I go about taking the black plastic piece? Pry it off?

Take off wiper arms and black cover, you just pry it off then you can almost see where it goes. On the linkage there is a plastic piece that snaps on a ball connector that moves the wiper back and forth. My wife's car had a broken plastic clip when we bought it, I just recently replaced the linkage. It not something you can tighten it just snaps on like a Lego.
