I've located a 4v voltage drop between the battery positive terminal and the stater trigger terminal while cranking. The starter solenoid draws about 25A so, wherever the voltage drop is, this is creating 100W of heating at the point(s) of loose connection.
I'd like to correct this as a preventive measure. Is the starter trigger terminal fed directly through the neutral safety and ignition cylinder or is there a relay somewhere?
If its directly connected, I'm going to rewire the trigger to drive a 12v 30A relay and use the relay to drive the solenoid to avoid exacerbating damage at the loose connection from heating.
Schematic for wiring to starter trigger?
