99 2.5 rs trans swap questions

So last week I picked up a 92 turbo legacy with a 99 2.5 rs 5 speed trans swap done to it. The previous owner never got around to figuring out how to hook up the speedo. Since the car is the old mechanical style vs the electronic speedo in the 2.5 trans. Is there any way to hook up the cable into the trans of not I'm going to have to figure out a way to send the signal from the electron speed sensor to the gauge cluster. Links would be much appreciated and maybe picture or step by step instructions

unbolt electrical sender stub from the tranny, bolt in mechanical one, and connect cable. Done

So do you take the whole plastic assembly out of the trans. Thats what I did and I just screwed the cable end into the trans But I still dont have a speedo idk what Im do wrong

You've taken the electronic (plastic) sender out, now you need to find the mechanical sender from a 1st gen legacy and screw that in, and connect the speedo cable to that.
